On its maiden flight Salvage II managed to find one of the few rock outcroppings on the ranch and hit hard enough to punch a nice hole in the side. Since this was such an odd diameter tube to begin with, replacing it was going to be extremely difficult so I decided to see if I could patch her back up....

I pushed out all the crushed in tubing and tacked it back in place with some epoxy. Stripped of off the paint and filled the entire area with Bondo.
After sanding the Bondo smooth and stripping off the remainder of the paint I decided that I needed to toughen her up so I did 2 wraps of fiberglass around the airframe.

Once the rebuilt airframe was cured and sanded smooth, it was time to repaint. Since this was a new and improved version she was christened Salvage III. |
